June 25, 2006
Dear Fr ;
This letter
is to cordially invite you and the younger parishioners of your Parish to an
exciting Labor Day Event. Called St
Willy Jam 2006, it will take place on the St Willebrord Parish grounds
from 12:00 noon until 6:00pm on September 4.
The purpose
of the event is four-fold:
At Youth
Jam 2006 five different youth bands would perform for 45 minutes each,
beginning at the top of each hour. Each
of the bands will have provided our coordinator Randy Kostichka with a list and
lyrics of the music they will perform to ensure that the words are appropriate
to a parish grounds setting. Also spread throughout our grounds will be a
variety of carefully chosen booths with information for the young people. Although those “vendors” are not yet set,
they will include service type organizations as well as businesses. Possible service organizations include our
local colleges, the Sexual Assault Center, Literacy Council, select soccer
coordinators, someone on computer and internet safety, teen counselors from the
Diocese, or the police dog program.
Possible businesses could include dance studios, music vendors, an
employment agency, or a “make a craft” type business.
St
Willebrord will provide both Mexican and American food and non-alcoholic
beverages at reasonable cost.
Our hope is
to have Cable TV or a radio station here taping or doing a live show as well.
You will be
contacted by Randy Kostichka, a St Willebrord parishioner who is coordinating
this event. He will have many more details and will be able to answer your
questions.
We hope
that you will consider:
·
Encouraging
your young people to attend
·
Personally
stopping in periodically throughout the day to interact with your young people
in an informal way
·
Publicizing
this event on your bulletin boards and in your parish bulletin
If you
would like to discuss the event with me as well, feel free to call me at the
parish office. I do believe this it
will be a fun day for our teens from throughout the area, and we are very
excited about the opportunity to provide a fun and festive event for them.
Sincerely,
|
