There are 4 people currently participating in the jail ministry at the Brown County Jail. 3 Deacons and one Lay person. These people represent St Agnes Parish, St Elizabeth Seton Parish, St Bernards Parish and St Willebrords Parish. The local area has recently built a new and very high quality building. It has over 500 beds and was opened in June of 2001. Prisoners stay at this location until their case is settled. I have met some inmates that have been there almost a year while their case is in progress. Prisoners are allowed to request someone from the Chaplains ministry. Those Spanish speaking requests are referred to me. The prisoners express a great desire to use the time that they spend in the jail to allow them to get closer to the Church and to God. During my visit, I participate in Group Discussions, Individual Discussions, Prayer and Review of Religious books. We are in need of donations for religious books to help with our ministry. One of my favorites is CHicken Soup for the Prisoners Soul in Spanish. Links to the other Catholic Parish's that are participating in this Ministry can be found on our HOME page.
