Hello! I
would like to tell you about It is the oldest organization of our Parish. Our record of dues-paying members dates back to 1931. A long time member has shared that she used to help her mom who was in charge of 1st Friday breakfasts for children, which tells us the organization reaches even further back in time. The lady is close to 100 years old! At that time we were affiliated with the school. Today, our ‘yearly dues’ are only $2.00. Today, the purpose of the Society is for the Parish women to work together in harmony for spiritual enrichment. We also raise funds for the Sanctuary needs, such as Eucharistic supplies, candles, vestments, flowers (when they are not donated), and for Liturgical enhancements. Our Communion hosts alone average $1,900.00, altar wine, $400.00, and the oil canisters $200.00, on an annual basis. We also have one lady who donates her time as a Sacristan. Her duties include checking altar supplies, garments and some general light housekeeping duties in the Sacristy and around the altar. Four or five women alternate weeks to do the Sacristy laundry. At present, we conduct only four
meetings a year, which are held on the fourth Monday of the month, beginning
in September. October, November, and April complete the cycle. In
December we hold an annual bake-sale and raffle. March finds us holding
another bake sale. This year we realized $1,155.00!!! We opted to
donate this amount to the Parish building fund. During Lent we sponsor
a day of reflection as spiritual enrichment. This year we will join the
Norbertine Community at the Abbey in DePere and
participate in their novena to We extend our appreciation to everyone for the wonderful cooperation given us in all our endeavors. Ladies, please join us. We need and welcome new members!!! If you read all of this….THANK YOU! I’m Vivian Obey. Friends call me “Vi”.
